ECAG hasn’t previously asked for money, so why now?
In the past, we have usually gone to VCAT with a council refusal so the developer pays and we don’t. However, councils do not always refuse developments which we think have serious flaws so when we want to fight these, we pay. In these circumstances, the application fee and one day at VCAT costs $1184!
Although we aim to do as much as we can ‘in house’ through our volunteers, sometimes, particularly with the huge developments being proposed of late, we are needing to engage professionals such as planners and others to help ensure we’re able to make the strongest arguments possible to keep inappropriate development at bay.
