Several years ago, development for two buildings containing 10 dwellings was granted for 28 Luck Street. However, that development had not yet gone ahead and a further planning application was submitted to Nillumbik Shire Council for a six townhouse, 4 x three storey and 2 x two storey, application.
ECAG had many concerns regarding this proposed development, including overdevelopment of the site, no landscape plan, no visitor parking and the development not responding adequately to our Eltham character.
Council officers were recommending approval of the planning application but it was ‘called in’ by councillors who ultimately decided to refuse approval at the Future Nillumbik Committee meeting on June 12.
In addition to the new permit being refused, the permit for the original proposal has lapsed as despite an extension of time being granted work did not commence within the allowable time frame.
The existing building has been demolished. Only time will tell what will happen at 28 Luck Street now.
