Some of you may recall historian, Andrew Lemon, and his eloquent speeches and open letters to Nillumbik Council during the battle to save community reserves earlier on this year. Following the council’s announcement of its plans to ask developers to submit proposals for both the War Memorial Complex and the old Shire Office site, Andrew has written an excellent essay on the history and importance of these sites.
Andrew wrote the essay for Nillumbik councillors so they know exactly what they will be taking away from the community if they proceed to handing over the land to developers and he now wishes to share this essay with the wider community.
